Brilliant results...
The start point with Sarah is always the reality check, personal and situational assessments, when done correctly are the foundation for any improvement journey, but she takes this a step further and really hits the "Why" of any start point. That self-reflection for a person or business can be painful or at least uncomfortable, and Sarah makes no bones or excuses about getting to the heart of any issues. Sarah is no blunt instrument though, her engaging and positive personality does make the process more effective, in that her style makes teams want to bare their soul, with objectivity and honesty.

Frequently Asked Questions.
Radiate. is Bright & Brilliant's Executive Coaching and Mentoring Programme.
Your highly experienced and well-trained coach works with a single or small group of clients in senior-level roles helping them develop the mindset, skills and tools that will enable them to achieve their personal, professional, and organisational goals, whilst supporting and leading them through the challenges, and growth opportunities experienced along the way.
The main aim and purpose of the coach is to improve the overall effectiveness of the coachee(s) by helping them develop and embed their confidence, behaviours and skills that will ensure they become and remain vital assets to their organisation and, more importantly, be the type of leader others want to follow and work for.
Not all coaches are equal in what they offer. Ideally, an executive coach will be able to provide a range of services and skills to enhance the leadership effectiveness of their client including:
Coach – helping the client understand and see what they do, why they do it, how they do it, why they do it and the impact this has on their own success and the success of others.
Mentor – providing skills and ideas through experience for improved performance and enhanced problem-solving.
Trainer – teaching the essential and advanced leadership skills required for leaders to be effective as required and identified throughout the coaching program.
Trusted Advisor – providing a safe space to speak the truth without fear of retribution or ridicule.
Critical Friend – holding the mirror up at all times to help the client(s) see what they cannot due to their own internally biased thinking processes so behavioural change and success can be expedited.
Advocate & Cheerleader – has only the best interest of the client at the heart of all they do supporting and applauding every success.
We all understand the training bit. It makes sense, we learn something and then have the opportunity to put it into practice…..but what is coaching and how does this differ?
Those who have coaching and use it to help them develop their mindset which in turn enhances all their skills will do better than those who don’t.
But by how much?
Manchester, Inc. surveyed 100 executives, most of whom were from Fortune 1000 companies. Their research showed that a company’s investment in Executive Coaching realized an average ROI of almost six times the cost of the coaching. (Maximizing the Impact of Executive Coaching, The Manchester Review, 2001, Volume 6, Number 1, Joy McGovern, et.al.
According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), 86% of organisations saw an ROI on their Coaching engagements, and 96% of those who had an Executive Coach said they would repeat the process again.
In one study, executive coaching had a 788% ROI thanks to increases in areas like productivity and employee satisfaction.
A study by McGovern (2001) on the impact of executive coaching shows both the intangible and tangible results of coaching. The researchers studied 100 executives from 56 organisations of various sizes. The results showed that 43% of the companies were able to identify the return on investment of coaching. “The majority of the 43 participants . . . reported between $100,000 and $1 million as the return on investment.
The truth is the ROI exceeds that level every time as we start to see an improvement in the employee experience which leads to a reduction in costs associated with absenteeism, presenteeism and attrition.
The knock effect from this is that both internal and external customers are better ‘served’ leading to better working relationships, less tension, more collaboration, innovation and better business results.
That all sounds rather compelling, doesn’t it?
The value of coaching and the ROI can be measured both tangibly and intangibly irrespective of whether the coaching is for individuals or teams.
Tangible benefits of executive coaching include:
Increased productivity
Higher performance levels
Reduced costs
Growth in revenue and sales
Higher employee retention
Higher employee engagement
Increased emotional intelligence ( Measured by our Emotional Intelligence 360 behaviours survey)
Higher confidence (Measured by our confidence quiz: Have I got Imposter Syndrome)
Intangible benefits of executive coaching include:
Strengthening of executive presence
Better communication
Enhanced situational leadership skills
Embracing accountability
Stronger work relationships
Through our program, your team will benefit from shared learning, collaboration, and enhanced communication, leading to improved team dynamics and collective accountability.
The program strengthens self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills, while also promoting innovation, reducing tension and increasing strategic alignment within the team.
Group coaching and individual coaching share commonalities as client-centred processes that prioritise the current moment and support clients in reaching their objectives.
However, they differ in the areas of focus.
Individual coaching places a greater emphasis on transformative mindset shifts, confidence and specific skill development required by the individual, whereas group coaching tends to address this aspect at a higher level, with a focus on effective leadership team transformation.
Team coaching can therefore lead to a higher ROI than 1:1 coaching by transforming multiple team members simultaneously, driving accountability, cooperation, growth and enhancing business outcomes.
1:1 Coaching focuses on personalised guidance and support, allowing individuals to explore their unique challenges and aspirations in a flexible, conversational environment.
This approach prioritizes the client’s specific needs and goals, adapting to their pace and preferences.
In contrast, a more structured 1:1 Coaching and Skills Development program follows a predetermined curriculum, offering systematic training and skill-building exercises. This format provides a clear framework and measurable outcomes, ensuring participants develop specific competencies over time.
While both methods aim to foster personal growth, the key difference lies in the level of customization and structure, enabling clients to choose the approach that best suits their learning style and objectives.
Group coaching sessions for leadership teams offer several key benefits, including:
Shared Learning and Collaboration:
Group coaching allows team members to learn from each other's experiences, perspectives, and insights, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and collective problem-solving.
Enhanced Communication:
Through group coaching, team members can improve their communication skills, enhance team dynamics, and strengthen relationships, leading to better collaboration and alignment towards common goals.
Collective Accountability:
Group coaching promotes a sense of accountability within the team, as members hold each other responsible for their actions, commitments, and progress towards individual and team goals.
Increased Self-Leadership:
Team members can gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their impact on others through group coaching, leading to improved self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills.
Team Development:
Group coaching sessions help in developing the team as a ‘cohesive’ unit, building trust, mutual respect, and a shared sense of purpose, which are essential for high-performing teams.
Synergy and Innovation:
By bringing diverse perspectives together, group coaching sessions can spark creativity, innovation, and new approaches to problem-solving, leading to enhanced team performance and results.
Support and Encouragement:
Group coaching provides a supportive environment where team members can offer and receive feedback, encouragement, and motivation, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Strategic Alignment:
Through group coaching, leadership teams can ensure alignment around organisational goals, values, and strategies, facilitating a unified ‘one team’ approach and coordinated efforts towards achieving desired outcomes.
Leadership Development:
Group coaching can help team members develop their leadership skills, build confidence, and enhance their ability to lead and inspire others, creating a pipeline of effective future leaders within the organisation.
Overall, group coaching sessions for leadership teams will drive personal and professional growth, improve team dynamics, and ultimately contribute to the overall success and effectiveness of your organisation.
1. Improved self-awareness: individuals gain self-awareness, emotional self-control, a deeper understanding of their strengths, biased thinking, areas for development, blind spots, and underlying values.
2. Enhanced leadership skills: individuals develop better communication, change management, coaching, feedback, inspirational leadership, presentation, meeting, problem-solving, delegation, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
3. Increased confidence: individuals develop an unshakeable self-belief, their confidence, resilience, and self-esteem soar, which will lead to higher levels of fulfilment, better productivity, and improved performance. This
4. Better work-life balance: individuals achieve a better balance between their work and personal life, which can lead to improved overall well-being. Understanding what is on our control, what we can influence and what we need to let go of is essential as is taking time to understand the behaviours of others and how we react to them.
5. Career growth: individuals start to clearly identify their career and personal goals and develop a robust plan to achieve them. This often leads to career development, greater job satisfaction and a feeling of control over their future.
6. Better relationships: individuals improve their relationships with their colleagues, employees, and senior members of staff, which leads to a more collaborative and positive work environment. It also improves personal relationships too!
7. Personal development: individuals will develop new skills, embed new behaviours, and gain new helpful perspectives. Breaking down judgments and biased thinking and understanding there is always more than one version of the truth leads to fast and effective personal growth.
It's worth noting not all coaches are accredited or skilled in the skills knowledge transfer required to achieve the desired outcomes and therefore will not be able to provide the service required.
The Organisational benefits are:
1. Improved leadership: Executive coaching can help leaders at all levels of the organization improve their leadership skills, which can lead to better relationship-building, decision-making, delegation, communication, and problem-solving. All of which leads to a high-trust, high-performance environment.
2. Increased productivity: Coaching can help individuals identify and overcome obstacles that may be hindering their productivity, which can lead to improved performance and better results for them and the organisation.
3. Better employee retention: Coaching can help individuals feel more valued and supported by their organisation, which leads to higher job satisfaction, feelings of fulfilment and lower turnover rates. The more senior the leader, the more of an impact this has on the whole organisation.
4. Enhanced teamwork: Coaching can help individuals improve their collaboration and communication skills, stronger, more effective, and productive teams.
5. Improved organisational culture: Coaching helps individuals move from a scarcity mindset (negative biased focus) to develop a growth mindset (positive unbiased focus) and a commitment to continuous improvement, which will lead to a more positive and productive organisational culture.
Increased innovation: A coach who is also a leadership and professional skills mentor helps individuals develop new skills and perspectives, which can lead to new ideas and innovative solutions to personal, professional and organisational challenges.
1. Cost
Executive coaching & development can be deemed as expensive, and some organisations may feel they do not have the budget to cover the cost of coaching for all their leaders.
If you think the cost of coaching is expensive, work out how much it’s costing you to continue with reduced levels of effectiveness, decreased productivity, high attrition rates, high levels of absenteeism and presenteeism.
"The investment in coaching is negligible when compared to the cost of low levels of effectiveness and productivity in an organisation which can be anything from hundreds of thousands to millions of euros per year."
2. Time
Executive coaching & development requires a time commitment from both the coach and the individual being coached. Some people may decide they do not have the time to do this and be reluctant to commit to the time needed for coaching sessions and follow-up work.
This decision is often a self-sabotage technique to avoid the real problem which is ‘what if I have to change and learn to do things differently’.
This ‘fear’ sets of a fight or flight response in our brains and helps us make poor decisions on how to proceed, keeping us ‘safe’ from change and away from personal and professional growth.
"Sometimes we need to slow down to speed up! In reality, the time spent coaching makes us more effective, so we save time and avoid making timely, costly mistakes that could have been avoided."
I’ve worked with over 500 leaders and teams, entrepreneurs and small business owners helping them develop the mindset and skills to achieve outstanding and often life-changing results.
For example:
One medium-sized organisation I worked with for 2 years increased in company value from £5 Million to £30 Million and sold, allowing the owner to take early retirement and follow his dreams.
Another larger organisation asked me to develop and support a group of leaders helping them develop their leadership skills and confidence to drive business growth. This led to an increase in profitability by 40%.
It’s harder for me to put specific figures on the large organisations I’ve worked with. In Astra Zeneca for example, I was part of a large development program. Every single leader I worked with improved their ability to coach others by 60% or more. This was measured using a grading system from a widely used coaching methodology. Scores were taken at the start of the program and then at the end to track growth and progress.
Finally, I’d like to share some feedback from a few very satisfied customers
“Coaching with Sarah has been one of the best, if not THE best personal development experience I've had in my career so far. I couldn't recommend her more highly. Thanks Sarah!”
- Tom Hallett MD Excel Communications
“I've known Sarah for far longer than she'd care to admit, I worked with her in two big companies and then brought her in to lead training and development for a smaller company, and then most recently she has been coaching two of my team in her consultancy. The change in those individuals has been marked and has made a real difference to them as whole people as well as in their working lives. The diffe
rence is that they have let go of those things holding them back, and it's great to see, and I feel smug for being smart enough to see it and set Sarah on them.”
- Stephen Shaw Commercial Lead Bayer Pharmaceuticals
And finally…..one of my most inspiring and challenging clients yet!!
To give you some context on why this makes me so incredibly proud; when Andrea came to me for help, she had no idea how amazingly talented and valuable she was to her industry. No one knew she had Autism and she told me she would never share this with a soul and would most definitely not be setting up her business anytime soon.
Well, 6 months with me changed all of that!
Hi Sarah,
Hope you're well. In a couple of hours, I'll be putting on my sparkly outfit and making my way to a posh hotel in London for the Women in Construction Awards 2022. I'm a finalist in the Industry Pioneer award. I'm up against 2 powerhouse women who have achieved enormous things. It's not about whether I win or not tonight; it’s the fact that I'm even there.
I wanted to say thank you to you because so much of tonight is because of you; much more than I think you realise. You held a mirror up and showed me just what I could do. You were an amazing and inspiring cheerleader.
Thank you, Sarah. What you do is amazing. Please know that.
Andrea"

This sums up why I do what I do. I honestly think I have the best job in the world and it’s a privilege to be trusted by some wonderfully talented professionals who just want to learn and do a bit better every day........for them, for their teams and for their organisations.
I’ve published my first book and am now an AMAZON #1 Bestseller of ‘LEADER UNLEASHED’: Become one of the most highly valued members of the executive team in your first 90 days.
This book takes the reader through my 5- step process that I use to help my clients make life-changing results by taking control of their self-limiting beliefs and self-sabotage practices. It’s specifically for leaders returning to work post redundancy who have had the wind knocked out of them. This has led to Imposter Syndrome, which if left ‘untreated’ will continue to cause problems for them in their next roles as it renders as it affects our ‘effectiveness’ which impacts our results and consequently, our success.
And finally, I’m on a mission to eradicate substandard leadership in the workplace by inspiring and empowering leaders to be more effective leaders of themselves first and then others, so they can create highly fulfilling, high-performance cultures that are underpinned by a culture of respect and dignity, so that everyone has an opportunity to reach their full potential and thrive.
Do get in touch if I sound like the right sort of person to help you in your organisation.
